What is Toast
[3]:
A get together of NewTek end users sponsored and paid for
by NewTek end users. A Groovy party with lots of free swag,
a place to congregate and put names to faces in the online
community we participate in year round. Traditionally there
is a lot of useful information about NewTek Products shared
at this event, not just the Toaster. Dan Ablan has offered
to give a LightWave demo if we can get him a workstation.
Eric Pratt will be showing off his Franken Toaster as well
as Chroma Key and Effects demos. Countless Toaster veterans
will be there sharing tips and tricks. But most importantly,
we all get to meet in person, those we share info with on
the forums. As well as build a stronger NewTek family.
Some Munchies will be provided and I’m hoping to add
another Bartender, (if donations show up quickly).
There should be plenty of great prizes to be given out. Several
people offering prizes have already contacted me. I’ll
try and get a list updated as they roll in.
Where is Toast [3]:
Toast 02 was held in Las Vegas at the MGM Conference Rooms:
Studios 1 & 2. Toast [3] will be held in the Premier Ballroom
at the MGM in room 311. As 311 is an Omaha police code for
indecent exposure this will be the theme for this years event.
Why Toast [3]:
Because 3 comes after 2, duh. Oh yeah and:
We as Users, 3rd Party Developers, Vendors, and Dealers want
to thank Tim Jenison, Dr. Andrew Cross, Paul Lara and the
entire NewTek Staff for all the hard work that has gone into
creating not only the Video Toaster 2, but also LightWave
7, Aura 2, and poor little Vidget to the market. Additionaly,
we want to thank NewTek for their extremely valuable and unique
support to all of us and to the sometimes happy and sometimes
not-so-happy beta testers for the Video Toaster 2. This is
a social event to allow Users, 3rd Party Developers, Vendors,
Dealers and the NewTek Staff to mingle and gab with each other,
to allow vendors to demo their 3rd party stuff, to allow power
users or NewTek people to demonstrate a few features, and
to allow users to demonstrate and trade tips and tricks.
When is Toast [3]:
Monday, April 7th, 2003. 6pm-11:45
Who is at Toast [3]:
Anyone and everyone is invited, lat year Dick vanDyke showed
up, as well as a slew of folks from NewTek and other industry
apparatchiki. While there is no fee to attend this event does
cost money. The coordinator Ted Ruiz will put up the front
money and will pay the difference between contribution and
cost, however as this is still in the several thousands of
dollars I would highly suggest contributing what you can to
help out, though not required. In return there are many door
prizes, most worth more than the average contribution.
I’ve been informed that many Toaster users still aren’t
aware of the Party.
Please pass on this info to any user groups I’ve missed
and any NewTek product users you know.
Please relay the need for donations, as this is NOT a NewTek
sponsored event. It is totally sponsored by us users and therefore,
I’m relying on YOU to help in keeping this an annual
event. Last year was far better than I imagined thanks to
this fantastic family. I’m anticipating within a few
years N.A.B. will become known as T.O.A.S.T.
